What do we mean when we talk about Infrastructure Transition? Indeed, the name of this site is “Infra Transition”; why is that?
Well, it comes from the marriage of Sustainable Infrastructure as a concept; more on that below, and Energy Transition as our ever-increasing reality.
I’ve been asked a few times by people as to what is meant by “Sustainable Infrastructure”. (By the way – I will cease with the quotes from now on)
I found an excellent definition, courtesy of our friends at the InterAmericas Development Bank and it’s here:
Sustainable infrastructure refers to infrastructure projects that are planned, designed, constructed, operated, and decommissioned in a manner to ensure economic and financial, social, environmental (including climate resilience), and institutional sustainability over the entire life cycle of the project.
